It was a jam-packed day yesterday. Classes began and knitters & crocheters were pouring in from all over the place–I happened to meet a lovely woman from New Orleans standing in line and there are folks from Iceland, Japan, New Zealand and more. It’s kind of strange to watch what starts out as an empty show floor
turn into a magical marketplace full of yarn, fashion shows, booksignings and inspiration.
(This is some pretty yarn from the Long Island Livestock Company.)
Classes went on all day and the Marketplace finally opened for preview hours from 5 to 8.
Look who I saw! My friends from Lion Brand! (Lion Brand has a pretty booth, too…)
I was scurrying around all day, trying to take photos and communicate some of the excitement and energy via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
At 6:30 pm, the Cocktail Party opened.
There was a silent auction to benefit the Stitch Red effort to educate women about heart health. All sorts of fun people were there but because of the off-lighting, many of my photos didn’t turn out too well. I did catch a quick sight of Lily Chin in a dress she made herself (probably only took her twenty minutes, since she is the World’s Fastest Crocheter)…
And had quite a thrill chatting with Debbie Bliss and Louisa Harding (photographic evidence is provided):
Now we’re beginning another full day of classes, marketplace shopping, fashion shows, booksignings, lectures and more. Will check back in with you all tomorrow morning…
Thanks for helping me live vicariously this weekend!!
If you see Kelly Fleek and her fabulous knitted art – give her a smooch from me!
