Spinning Fiber

Finest-quality rovings and top for handspinners, including single-breed wools; wool blends; alpaca and alpaca blends; and other blends including bamboo, tencel and silk. Rovings are usually sold in 8 oz. batches, which provides sufficient yarn for larger projects. I dye only high-quality fibers in the form of roving or top. I source fiber from top-quality wholesalers and from small, family-owned farms. Some batches contain dreamy, tonal variations, while others contain more vivid contrasts and richly saturated colors. All will make beautiful yarns! Wool is my favorite fiber to work with, and I'm particularly interested in working with single-breed yarns, like Corriedale, Wensleydale and Blue-Faced Leicester. I also dye blends: merino/silk is one of my favorite combinations and I work with wool/kid mohair blends, too. As my shop expands, I plan to add wool/tencel, wool/bamboo, and alpaca. If you're a beginner, don't fear: there are plenty of Black Bunny Fibers perfect for you. When I first learned to spin, well-meaning shop owners steered me toward fibers that were easy to spin, but rather plain and serviceable. I think it's more fun to start spinning with fun colors and soft fibers so you’ll want to use even the lumpy beginner’s wool you produce. Look for fiber with longer staple length such as Blue-Faced Leicester, Masham and Wensleydale wools if you're new to spinning.
