Raffle deadline extended!

Big news:  I’m extending the time for donating to Summer Search through October 15th. I know things are a bit uncertain right now with the budget impasse in Washington, and I want to make sure that everyone who is interested in donating to Summer Search has a chance to do so comfortably. (I’m hoping that things get sorted out by mid-month at the latest.)

A few people mentioned that they would prefer to use Paypal for their donation; if you would like to Paypal me a donation, I will make sure you are entered in the raffle and I will forward your donation to Summer Search. Just send me an email and I’ll give you the paypal info. Likewise, if you want to mail me a check, email me and we’ll work that out, too.

To those of you who have already donated, thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your response has been amazing!

About Summer Search

If you’d like a bit more information about Summer Search, there’s a terrific article that describes the Summer Search program and analyzes its impact at the Philadelphia Social Innovations website. This article estimates that for every dollar Summer Search invests in a high schooler, society gets $14 to $44 back,  “an impressive social return on investment. …Thanks to Summer Search’s impact, more and more students each year are becoming educated, civic-minded contributors to society, an outcome whose true value obviously goes beyond the financial gain we have estimated. ”

How the raffle works: easy-peasy

You donate directly to Summer Search Philadelphia by going to this link AND (this is important!) selecting the Philadelphia office (it says “Please direct my gift as follows” and you tick the Philadelphia oval).  Then email a copy of your online receipt to me at carol(at)blackbunnyfibers(dot)com. (Replace the stuff in parentheses with the correct symbol.)  To be eligible for the raffle, you must make your donation by October 15th, at midnight.

For each five dollars you donate, you’ll get one chance to win a prize. Look at ’em all (and huge thanks to my friends in the yarn business for their support — I am overwhelmed by how great the prizes are).
