Pairing (n.): (1) Two corresponding persons or items, similar in form or function and matched or associated; (2) One object composed of two joined, similar parts that are dependent upon each other; (3) the act of grouping people or things in pairs.
Today I am very excited to announce a new collaboration: The Pairings Yarn Club, a collaboration between Black Bunny Fibers and designer Brooke Nico. Brooke and I have been discussing working together on a project for a while, and a yarn club seemed like an obvious choice, since I’m known for my handdyed yarn and she’s known for her gorgeous patterns. And when we thought about picking a unifying theme for the club, there was another obvious choice: wine. (We have been known to sip a glass or two when we are on the road together…)
Here’s how the Pairings Club will work. Members will receive four shipments, each with a wine-related theme. Each shipment includes handdyed BBF yarn in a colorway inspired by something wine-related, along with a new pattern designed by Brooke (three of the four shipments) or me (one shipment) especially for that specific yarn and colorway. (The patterns are club exclusives and will not be for sale anywhere else until one year from the date they ship to club members.) At least two of the base yarns will be exclusive club selections that aren’t available in my ArtFire shop — fun and exciting new blends including some yummy luxury fibers. (For allergy purposes, please assume that all shipments will include at least some wool in them.) We’ll include recommendations for exactly which wines inspired us and will be the perfect accompaniment to each month’s selection so you can sip along as you knit along.
Here are the specifics:
- you sign up for four shipments, going out every five weeks, with the first shipment going out in June 2014.
- each shipment includes handdyed BBF yarn paired with a new pattern (three designs by Brooke, one by me) designed especially for it
- each shipment costs $40 which includes yarn, pattern, dyer’s/designer’s notes, shipping and some surprises. You sign up for a subscription payment plan through Paypal and we’ll bill you automatically every five weeks, for four shipments total, $40 each. Or you can pay in full up front, and receive ten dollars off (you’ll pay $150 for all four shipments, instead of $160).
- as always, you’ll receive top quality yarn, handdyed by me in tiny batches in an exclusive wine-themed colorway, one colorway per shipment
- at least two yarn shipments will be exclusive bases not available in my ArtFire shop
- yarn gauges range from worsted to laceweight (a variety of weights over the course of the four shipments)
- each shipment includes dyer’s and designer’s notes which discuss our inspirations for design and colorway, and give recommendations for wines to pair with your shipment
- US residents only for this round
